Occasionally, I behave like a schizophrenic. Most of the time, my insanity is driven by my temporary indulgence in new found love, for music, especially.

I feel so wrenched in the heart. Every beat makes me suffocate. I either feel like screaming out my lungs, or be crouched and whimper.

Shedd Aquarium

Skydeck at Willis Tower

It was a cold and windy day, so we were hitting the indoors.

But before we get to enter, we had to queue up in the wind! Torturing.

I wonder how these two survive without windbreakers or winter coats. I guess living in Minnesota and Wisconsin is really something.

And you see this queue over here? It was still that long when we left the aquarium at (if not mistaken) 3pm. And the aquarium closes at 5pm.

See? Cold d lor. Until they need my pockets!

As soon as we entered, there was a huge circular aquarium right in the middle of the lobby. There were tonnes of fishes of different varies and colors, not forgetting other sea creatures. But they swam in such a lightning speed so I couldn't catch a still picture with my lousy photo shooting techniques. Sorry :(

Next, we went to see the Jellies!

They were sooo fascinating. And they looked somewhat delicious. LOL.

And then we explored around while waiting for our show.

The creature below, that is a seal. The pool, where it lives is like 4 times its size. And all it did the whole time was swim to one end and swim to another end, non-stop. Either it really likes swimming or it has OCD.

They looked like they were in an operation or something. There was a "commander" outside the picture who was watching them in fact. So funny.

Show is starting! We are seated.

Before the real show started, Shedd organized a hell lot of patternful pre-performances. They had a trio singing Christmas carols. Didn't bother to take a photo of them. Then the trio introduced someone, and I brought out my camera anxiously thinking that the dolphins are going to appear.

The snowman started to interact with kids, (oh oklo if I was a kid maybe I would like him. Sadly for him I sudah 19 years old at that time pun) and giggled foolishly like any Disney mascot.

Then he presented his friend.

A FREAKING BOAT?!

Oh and the funnier part was he almost could not land.

Then the show was really about to start. These lights, as in, really beautiful and festive lights came out.

See? Snowflake lights projected on the landscape there were so nice! They kept moving slowly and transforming. So fantasy like.

Ooooooh here comes the Beluga whale!! They were damn intelligent! I wish Joey has at least half of their intelligence then I would be so grateful.

They were able to recognize their trainers. When they were released from the inner pool into the performance pool, they knew which trainer to go to by recognizing patterns like triangle, circle and stuff. They also memorized the sequence of their stunts, knowing clearly what should they perform first and what is next. DAMN SMART LAH!

Then there was this funny seal who was also very clever. I was very interested to touch its skin. Looks very smooth and slippery. Like a float.

The seal was trying to salute! Aaaaah damn chubeeee.

And finally, the dolphins!!!

Yes sorry I was a bad photographer.

BUT THE DOLPHINS WERE AWESOME!!!

Show ended. Got back to the aquariums.

Introducing one of the world's most disgusting/gili-est living thing:
THE SEA SNAKE.

You should see how they moved and wiggled slowly with their lower half of their bodies remained in the sand. DAMN gili wtf. I think I have a video of that but I had to puke every time I try to play that video so let's just excuse it. (On a second thought I might dedicate that video to Eewei as her birthday present.)

I used to have a smaller version of this beluga whale plushie!! Miss my childhood friend! Until it got replaced by elephants.

After that we went to the Skydeck on Willis Tower, one of the tallest buildings in North America. Previously known as the Sears Tower, the building has a total of 110 floors, and the Skydeck is located on the 103rd floor, tall enough for you to get an expansive sight of Chicago's amazing city scenery.

We took the super fast elevator up onto Floor 103rd, undergone a series of security scanning (yes they do that a lot in important buildings like the WTC and this), went to the loo and finally,

here we go!

I look so short and thick with all these winter clothes around me. (Horrified)

Besides that, one major attraction of the Skydeck is....the glass balconies!

Somewhere deeper in the observation deck were a row of retractable glass balconies extending from the 103rd floor. These glass balconies could bear five short tons of weight, allowing tourists to actually step onto the glass and look down on the ground, which is like, 103 floors below.

I think my heart stopped a beat or two.

But it was awesome! Everyone was literally squeezing into the glass boxes, not even worrying about accidental breaks or cracks. Honestly I did winced when I was on top of the glass boxes. I wasn't afraid of heights, but it is more relevant to say that catastrophic accidents make me nervous at times. Somehow, you just cannot predict what's happening next. You may say that I worry too much. The truth is, I watched enough disaster documentaries to turn myself into a cautious safety freak. I even rehearsed and pictured a slow-mo vision of myself and some unfortunate people falling down from the broken glass balcony and wailing. I must remind myself to fall gracefully and never land in awkward and ugly positions. No bone cracking or elbow snapping postures. Must die like how they die heroically in the movies. And I wondered what would be the last thoughts I have in mind before I hit the ground and die? Okay. Got carried away as usual. Sorry.

Still, it was awesome!!! Lalalala. High up in the air, 103 floors above the ground man. Super amazing.

And this guy here happen to have acrophobia. I think he just stepped into the glass box long enough for me to take a picture then he quickly jumped back to the solid firm ground ady. *shakes head*

The truth is, art museums bored me off. I was refreshened by some familiar music spreading through the whole institute. Then I left one of the galleries and went back to the lobby and saw this.

A Pi-pa performer deeply immersed in his performance and his music. Many were infatuated by his music and also, his charming passion. I was one of them.

There was a man who stood there long enough for several musical pieces to be performed. He stood there smiling in amusement and generously gave out applauses whenever a piece was finished. I thought this was touching - the interaction between a performer and an audience. A performer doesn't need a glamorous stage nor auditorium to perform in satisfaction, he doesn't even need a hall of audience to qualify a performance.
Sometimes, one is more than all.

Little Quickie

Maybe I shouldn't put that much effort on trying to post up pictures about my trip. I had been making several attempts to upload those photos, but frustrating enough, Blogger would not let me save it. So, I decided to push that behind and talk more about my recent life.

I hadn't had much time to concentrate on this blog, as I felt that it wasn't a necessity in my life, especially this current life. Plus, the inefficiency of Blogger slowly burned away my desire and interest to share more. And I felt kind of pointless to be just posting up pictures (which are already on my Facebook) without elaborating. Previously, I did have this intention, as I felt that most of my pictures that I think is worthy to share were neglected, and I thought they deserve more attention here. But then I got lazy....as you might have expected. Haha.

Alright. Drop the boring sessions. Here comes a new story. My life, here in Columbia, Missouri.

My first day (which is the 10th, I do not consider the night of 9th as my first day) in Columbia was unexpectedly disappointing. It was unavoidable anyway. I happen to be a Journalism major, I happened to be in New York, one of the world's busiest cities for almost a week. And the next thing I know, I am in a deserted little city, or at least Wikipedia calls it a city. Roads were wide and broad, lands were wide and broad, houses were big and broad. And relatively few pedestrians. Advisors and student volunteers told me that it is normal for Columbia to be bare when the students are not back for the semester yet. I shrugged in response.

But it definitely got better. In no time students filled up the empty streets. Shuttle service started functioning. And I went to attend classes. I was starting to feel the pressure anyway. It's the first time in my life that I think my English really sucks. Sobs.

Basically I would just stay in my room and hang onto the computer, iPad or my books (undoubtedly, books are the least touched) and be anti-social. I know it is not good and I should step out and socialize with my housemates, but ... Yer.

Anyway I am planning to move out or get a car. Or move out and still get a car. Hehe. Because practically, you cannot live in Columbia without having a car. PLUS, I need to travel everywhere for the sake of news collecting. Laugh out loud. Alright, ciao!

Gooooooooood day!

Sorry for the long wait. I am back on blogging action!

Just a brief update on my latest life: I have settled down at The Reserve at Columbia, an apartment with no public transport and no shuttle service during breaks. Weather is unpredictable every day. Columbia had its first snow on the third day I came. And I went out without boots (I wore Converse sneakers), winter hats, gloves nor scarves. Yep I was pretty much frozen to death. Currently facing some minor problems on my class registration stuff, but the rest is still fine. Still hoping to meet some MALAYSIAN friends here, you know why. I am so so so lonely and I miss speaking with the "lah" "loh" "mah" and "walao eh".

ANYWAY. BACK TO TOPIC!

I'll be blogging about my tremendously long trip with the amazing people. Missing them already *sniff sniff*. As you all had probably known from Facebook, we toured Chicago, headed to Madison next, visited Minneapolis for a couple of days and went to New York. Trip was long, so this post is going to be a part of Chicago only. Still a long way to go.

As it was quite late on the Christmas Eve when I arrived, most shops were closed. We managed to pay a brief visit to the Navy Pier, which was cheerfully lightened up by the festive lights.

There is an iMax cinema in the plaza. It was Tom Cruise!! *Drools

Disturbing the plants sounds fun though! They seem so undisturbed all the time.

I thought the Chicago transportation system was really neat. It is easy to move along on the loop.

Regina and Ivon bought everyone lip balms from Jamba Juice, a fruit juice and smoothie store. The mango flavored lip balm smells and tastes super nice that I kept on applying it.

Bong brought us to a church located in an elementary school for Christmas service. It was my first time attending a service on Christmas. Pretty interesting.

Sorry, not much time to update yet!

It is currently 1.33am at New York (and yes, I'm in NY) and I am catching some private time alone at the common area of the hostel we're now staying. Niceee! I had been missing some time for myself!

Anyway, Times Square is cool, like seriously. It is like watching the movies turn into reality. With all the big screens and street lights booming here and there. Too bad there isn't much music blaring. It would be mood lifting as well, I guess. Nevertheless, the city is awesome enough by itself.

Hey people! Miss me miss me? :D :D

Things are pretty exciting in the States. I am having fun every day since Day 1 I step on this part of Earth. Weather's cold but I'm getting used to it. Enjoy wearing winter clothes hahaha! Dying to get more boots!

Spent about 5 days in Chicago, visiting some awesome places like Millenium Park, SkyDeck, Magnificent Mile, Shedd Aquarium etc. Had so much fun with the gang!

Spent 2 days in Madison, enjoying great good and some alien nonsense. Hahahaha!

Now I'm in Minneapolis having fun with everyone! Snow is pretty and I'm in love!! <3 Spending my New Year's Eve now. Everyone's playing cards and gambling, and I'm the good girl. =)

Just a brief update for everyone to know that I'm okay and happy! Do miss me! Will update more when I'm free!

Hello, when you are reading this, I am already gone. I am no longer here but somewhere in the air or in the states...............

Nah, just kidding, I might still be at home tracking my blog stats. My flight is on 9.15pm, Friday. So I still have a lot of time to linger at home! Yay!

As you can see, fellow loyal readers, my blog has undergone a major construction over one night. My the colors changed, my header is new, fonts and stuff were also modified, and the stats were reset. ALSO! One most important thing is, my archive is gone. =)

Wondering what happened to my blog? Well, it's because this is a new one. I am going to step into a different phase of life, so I might as well create a new blog, one that is more mature and tidier, putting the past aside, and kick a fresh start off!

I know the link is still the same old one, so it may look like I've deleted all the contents. But, trust me, the old one is still existing, though I don't wish to reveal it's new link as I prefer to keep it for myself. However, if you know me well enough, you are able to figure it out. (whispers hint: it's my nickname!)

Anyway, life as I had it these days were pretty busy. Had been dashing through marts and markets to get everything I need into my luggages. Had also been meeting up some close friends, funny friends, old friends, long lost friends etc. It had been nice to meet up with you guys. And I regret for not spending more time with you guys........because we really had too much to talk but too little time! =( Never mind, we shall continue after one year.

For my friends

Thanks for loving me so much. Thanks for the presents, the company, the honor of your presences, just everything. Don't be sad because I'm not really that sad (hah you all knew this) and it's gonna be pretty embarrassing if you feel sad but I don't. I am anti-social, I think making new friends is a fuss, so I don't really have a lot of friends. But having you guys, makes me feel like I'm the luckiest person on earth. It's seriously about the quality, not quantity. I have more than anything that I could ask for, why do I still need more friends? Love you guys.

For my family

Right now I am typing this on Thursday night. It feels like any regular night. Thankfully there's no "emo talk" sessions or whatsoever. Don't worry about me. Just let me go outside and learn to be independent. I know I am careless, but the fortune-tellers always say that I have a lucky life and I always have lucky stars (as in, 贵人) to aid me out of obstacles. So... I suppose it's a good thing? I will take care of myself lah, zhong zhi. Hehe.

For my puppies

You both make me cry! Evil fellas. Trixie, please please take care of yourself and don't fall sick anymore. You are an old lady now you know? Sorry for not spending that much time when I am here. But I really love you so so so much. Joey. Alright I love you too, although I always pretend that I hate you. But you are really adorable. And fat. And tamchiak my god. Stop bullying Trixie! And bark louder next time if Sepi grows older and her deafness worsens.

For my room

You had been lovely. Although you are messy every day, and you sometimes smell like stale bread, but you are perfect. Because you totally epitomizes me. If you are a man, you would be the one I would gladly marry. (HAHA!) You are colorful and warm, bringing me comfort whenever I am upset. Your bathroom is my best stage. Please miss me and my dirtiness although you would definitely be cleaner and tidier with my absence. Love you.

For my car

You are my first car! A small little Kenari. I know I mistreated you with my clumsiness. I know I keep running you over harsh curbs or bumps, making you bounce like a balloon. I know I always speed like those people in Fast and Furious, while you might not be even capable of doing that. But I really like you a lot. Being small and tall, you make me park easier (because my parking skills, esp side parking, really suck!!), you make me see the roads clearer, and you are lighter than Mom's or sis's car! And the dear little Baby (my blue elephant toy) in the car, please take care of yourself and don't miss me too much. Sorry for not bringing you to the states (because I'm bringing Bob the gray one), I will really miss you. Play with Penguin or Spongebob if you're bored.

For my guitar

Sigh, you make me feel so sad. I really wish you could be with me no matter when and where. Sorry for dumping you here and getting a new one (when I reach Missouri). But you know you are irreplaceable. Love you the most.

For your information

I really talked to my puppies (acceptable), car (errrr...) and my room (wth you talking to walls ar?!). They are seriously a big part of my life. And I owe them a lot. So, don't think I'm insane alright?
